An exciting opportunity has risen for a senior paediatric audiologist, to carry out the day to day assessment and rehabilitation of children. This will entail undertaking simple and more complex test procedures in all cases with guidance, as appropriate. To follow the Newborn Hearing Screening Programme (NHSP) guidance for the assessment and early intervention of patients referred from the programme. To fit and evaluate hearing aids, including digital hearing aids, by utilising Modernisation of Children’s Hearing Aid Services (MCHAS) procedures. To have responsibility for specific aspects of the service. To liaise closely with Acute Audiology Service, Education and Speech and Language Therapy together with other specialist clinical technical, therapy, medical and nursing staff as required to ensure the best possible standard of patient care. The paediatric service is based at the Crystal Children’s Development Centre, Croydon.

Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly Audiology team. We are looking for a full-time band 6 paediatric audiologist. We provide a comprehensive paediatric audiology service including assessing babies referred from the New-born Hearing Screening Programme, the behavioural and objective assessment of children of all ages and the habilitation of children with hearing loss.
The post holder will be expected to have a BSc in audiology (or equivalent), RCCP/HCPC registered and significant experience working with paediatrics. We are looking for someone who is forward thinking and who is keen to develop further, both clinically and in a leadership/supervisory role. Ongoing training and CPD will be very much encouraged. Evidence of experience in paediatrics audiology is expected including undertaking developmentally appropriate audiological assessments in children of all ages, including those considered non-routine.
You will be based at the Crystal Development Centre, Malling Close The department offers flexible working arrangements.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential criteria
- B.Sc. in Audiology or BTEC (NC) in Medical Physics & Physiological Measurement (MPPM) and BAAT parts I & II Or the equivalent of these qualifications.
Desirable criteria
- M.Sc. in Audiology Registered, or working towards registration on HCPC as a Clinical Scientist (Audiology) or RCCP as an audiologist
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
Essential criteria
- Knowledge and experience in all aspects of general audiology
- knowledge and experience in paediatric audiology, including rehabilitation of patients with complex needs Knowledge of adult assessments
- Previous experience of staff training and development
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of business and workforce planning
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- Working paediatric audiologist role In techn Attended courses in newer techniques and implemented the new ways of working
- Working paediatric audiologist role In techniques for testing children with complex needs With performing diagnostic investigations
Desirable criteria
- Experience in team management and training
