We’re looking for someone who is:

·       A strong communicator with extensive experience in employee relations

·       Confident handling highly complex cases and working with multiple stakeholders

·       Passionate about coaching and developing managers to enhance their ER skills

·       Organised and results-driven, with the ability to meet ER performance targets

Main duties of the job

What You’ll Be Doing

As our Employee Relations Manager, you’ll work closely with the Head of Employee Relations to ensure our ER team provides a proactive, efficient, and fair service for managers and staff. You’ll play a key role in:

·       Leading and supporting the ER team to resolve cases fairly, quickly, and in line with best practices

·       Advising on and managing complex ER cases in a fast-paced, unionised environment

·       Coaching and training managers so they feel confident handling ER matters

·       Driving performance improvements and helping to meet key ER objectives

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Degree Level
  • CIPD qualified and registered
Desirable criteria
  • PG Certificate in Employment Law

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive experience of providing expert advice on Employee Relations in large complex unionised organisations
  • Experience in the development and delivery of employee relations training.
  • Experience of managing teams
  • Experience of managing highly complex investigations
  • Experience of policy development and implementation
  • Proven ability to improve service delivery through innovative solutions and process optimisation
Desirable criteria
  • NHS experience

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of ER best practice.
  • Ability to gain the confidence of and influence people at all levels and in situations where hostility or resistance may be encountered.
  • Good IT skills including word/excel/PowerPoint.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment law and its application in Employee Relations
  • Excellent written and communication skills- able to communicate with a wide range of people on complex issues
  • Familiar with HR systems and producing reports
