Job overview
We are looking to recruit a locum consultant in general obstetrics and gynaecology.
The post is intended to cover maternity leave; covering on calls, antenatal clinics, gynaecology clinics and additional clinics according to personal skills and day surgery cases. This is a fixed term contract for 12 months initially with the possibility of extension. The clinical sessions are flexible and may be either out-patient activity or surgical. The post carries on-call obstetric activity.
Croydon Health Services is an integrated care organisation providing hospital and community services from a number of locations throughout Croydon. It comprises the former Croydon Community Health Services and Croydon University Hospital. Croydon University Hospital is a large urban DGH with links to a tertiary unit. We welcome applications from all qualified consultants, whether they are new or established colleagues looking for a new challenge. Candidates must be on the GMC Specialist Register having completed post graduate CCT training or an equivalent structured training programme.
Main duties of the job
As a senior employee of the Trust you will work in close co-operation with, and support other clinical, medical professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Trust’s patients. Integral to these responsibilities is the following:-
- The provision of a first class clinical service
- Effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty
- Sustaining and developing teaching and research in conjunction with Croydon Health Services
- Undertaking all work in accordance with the Trust’s procedures and operating policies
- Conducting clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Trust’s service plan
- Maintaining the confidence of business plans and development strategies formulated for the specialty, the Care Group or the Trust

The Trust was formed on 1st August 2010 through the integration of Croydon Community Health Services and Mayday Healthcare NHS Trust. - Experience in gynaecology scanning
- Adequate experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the NHS setting

- Able to carry out outpatient hysteroscopy

- Experience in day to day organisation of services in a busy teaching hospital
