  • Is an excellent communicator, able to provide clear, practical, and persuasive advice
  • Can build strong relationships and work collaboratively with managers and HR colleague

Main duties of the job

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior ER Advisor, you’ll work closely with the ER Manager, ER Advisor, and HR Business Partnering team to provide a proactive and people-centred ER service. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting managers in resolving complex ER cases using Just Culture principles, ensuring fairness and compassion remain at the heart of the process
  • Managing a varied and complex caseload, including disciplinary, grievance, bullying & harassment, and capability cases
  • Advising managers on best practice, employment law, and Trust policies, helping them feel confident in handling ER issues
  • Building strong, positive relationships across the organisation and providing clear, persuasive advice to managers

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Level 5 CIPD
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience

Experience/Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Proven experience in a HR advisory role with minimal supervision
  • Experience providing advice and recommendations to managers on complex employee relations issues including disciplinary, grievance and capability matters
  • Experience of supporting management with timely and robust completion of investigations
  • Able to review and update HR policies and procedures
  • Up to date knowledge of employment law and good employment practice
Desirable criteria
  • NHS experience
  • Trained AFC Job matcher

SKILLS/ABILITIES

Essential criteria
  • Able to convey ideas and advise clearly, concisely with conviction and in a persuasive manner
  • Ability to analyse and problem solve from complex information and communicate with managers and staff to assist in determining informed decisions
  • High standard of verbal and written communication skills/able to generate own correspondence and reports, and draft policy revisions, all with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to coach managers on how to apply HRM practices appropriately.
  • Familiar with electronic HR reporting and recording systems and producing reports as required
