Job overview

Working closely with the Application Support Team, the post holder will support in the delivery of clinical application services to the Trust and beyond. 

Day to day support will focus on operational and continues improvement demand of Electronic Patient Record systems but will also require support of administration, testing and projects of other clinical systems.

The postholder will undertake maintenance, testing and clinical system administration of the trust’s applications. They will support the Application Managers/Applications Specialists with application changes, 
troubleshooting problems and challenges, the expansion and upgrading of applications, as well as supporting new systems in both Project stage and BAU.

The postholder will also be expected to support the Test Lead in the testing of applications, including new software releases and updates. 

The post holder will be a point of contact for all clinical application and e-RS related issues or queries for internal staff, GP Practices and external stakeholders. You will be an accessible, customer focused and knowledgeable point of contact. You will manage incidents and develop relevant skill and knowledge to progress change requests on the trusts incident management system for all applications we support 

The postholder must understand the systems, offer potential solutions to problems, escalate when required and will support a team of skilled application specialists.

Education/ Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Operational knowledge of complex applications, such as Patient Administration and Clinical systems, preferably gained in a complex health care environment.
Desirable criteria
  • ITIL Foundation qualification
  • Oracle Millennium (formerly Cerner) Fundamentals

Previous experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of managing and resolving requests and incidents using an incident management system.
  • Experience in the usage, support, maintenance, and administration of Clinical applications with the focus of Electronic Patient Record systems eg. Oracle Millenium, Emis Web & e-RS
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of testing new software releases and updates
  • Experience of supporting the delivery of applications from project into live support and also application upgrades

Skills/ Knowledge/ Ability

Essential criteria
  • Able to prioritise workloads and resource them in response to changing demands and requirements.
  • Able to effectively troubleshoot incidents and understand when to escalate when required
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a large multi-disciplinary team and communicate with staff and colleagues at all levels, particularly when supporting applications users/staff
  • Evidence of continuous personal development
  • Good understanding of the principles of both the data protection act & cyber security
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of delivering training to individuals or large groups of staff
