We are looking for a Paediatric Nurse with a keen interest in haemoglobinopathies (Sickle Cell & Thalassaemia). As part of the London Sickle Cell improvement programme, we are want to recruit an empathetic individual to join the specialist acute and community team, working with the sickle cell and thalassaemia population across the borough of Croydon.

This is a good opportunity for you to showcase your skills and knowledge, to support the provision of specialist/non-specialist Haemoglobinopathy services in our community.

Working in an experienced team of specialist doctors and nurses across the borough of Croydon, the post holder will contribute to the delivery and ongoing development of a high-quality haemoglobinopathies service in the Community.
The postholder will help to provide care and support, to individuals and families with sickle cell disease and thalassaemia in the home and in hospital. The aim is to improve standards of care.
Key duties:
· Provision of clinical and advisory support to individuals with haemoglobinopathies as part of an integrated specialist team.
· Contribute to the development and review of nursing/MDT protocols and care plans.
· Ensure reviewed documents are shared with service users, their families and stakeholders in the Trust, the community and the HCC Network.
· Work in partnership with service users and families to develop and implement programmes of care. Deliver advice to support health promotion, improved quality of life and prevent illness.
· Utilise specialist skills during assessment and interpretation of acute and chronic conditions. Escalate concerns when appropriate.
· Offer guidance, support and clinical oversight post discharge.
· Provide teaching/training on Haemoglobinopathy nursing issues.
· Develop close working relationships with other health and allied colleagues in primary, secondary, social care and relevant agencies, to enhance continuity of care for affected individuals and families.

- Holds or working towards relevant post-registration
- Teaching & assessing qualification or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Experience in caring for patients with haemoglobinopathies.

Knowledge, skills and ability

- Cannulation and phlebotomy skills
