Senior Occupational Therapist

Band 6

We are looking for a keen OT to join our Acute Therapy Team. The team consists of Occupational Therapy,  Speech and Language Therapy and  Physiotherapy staff.

 6 months rotations offered across Elderly Care, Medicine - acute and respiratory and Surgery and Orthopaedics.
 Supervision and support is provided by the Band 7 Occupational therapist.

Main duties of the job

  • To manage a caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions
  • To provide leadership for junior staff through supervision, competencies and appraisal
  • To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Therapy services within a designated area/team, holding responsibility for defined projects
  • To contribute to the maintenance and development of the trust Therapy service
  • To regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on practice placements
  • To participate in the rotations as assigned by your manager

Education and qualification

Essential criteria
  • BSc or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC Registered as OT
Desirable criteria
  • Postgraduate training relevant to Stroke

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of a range of OT models and demonstrate being up to date with trends and developments in OT stroke rehab
  • Awareness of clinical guidelines and NSF’s in Stroke rehabilitation

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Postgraduate, incorporating experience in a variety of relevant core specialities, including stroke rehab
  • Experience working as an OT with adults in NHS
Desirable criteria
  • Previous OT Band 6 experience with adults
  • Previous Community Band 6 OT experience with adults
