Assistant Director of Strategy, OD and Improvement

Band 8c

Job overview

Following a restructure to align our culture and improvement programmes, a fantastic opportunity has arisen to lead our new Strategy, Organisational Development and Strategic Improvement Team. We are currently finalising our Trust Strategy for 2024 – 2027. To successfully deliver on these plans, we need a continued focus on driving effective cultural change, using continuous improvement, change management and organisational development methodologies.

You will be responsible for operationalising strategy delivery, integrating OD initiatives and best-practice improvements to address cultural and process aspects of change. The role will support the alignment of our People and Quality programmes, exploring innovative approaches to project delivery. You will also lead on key programmes including leadership development, staff engagement, retention and wellbeing.

You will be an excellent, compassionate leader who will be passionate about ensuring that our Oxleas values can be felt throughout the organisation. You will be a key part of the People Senior Management Team, as well as working closely with the Quality Team. You will work with us to ensure staff members feel a strong sense of belonging as part of the Oxleas family. We are proud to have been awarded HSJ Trust of the Year 2023. We are continuously striving for improvement and we want every member of staff to feel that Oxleas is the best place to work. You will have a key role in helping us to achieving this ambition.

Main duties of the job

You will work alongside our Executive Team to deliver the Trust’s strategic ambitions for the coming years. You will lead and manage key strategic programmes, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver these. You will need to secure support and engagement with the programmes from all stakeholders, influencing and collaborating to achieve the desired results.

You will drive cultural transformation in alignment with our overall strategy and values. You will oversee the creation and execution of employee engagement strategies to boost retention and workforce involvement. Focus areas will include talent management, career development and team effectiveness.

You will lead the design, delivery, and execution of large-scale strategic change and improvement programmes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the Trust. You will ensure strategic programmes blend improvement and change management methodologies with organisational development strategies. You will seamlessly integrate programme and project management approaches to deliver key strategic initiatives, while tracking milestones, risks, and performance objectives.

You will have the ability to formulate long-term strategic plans, in an ever-changing landscape. As a specialist in strategy, organisational development and improvement, you will advise the organisation on policy implementation, best practice and developments in these areas.
