Are you looking to progress your leadership skills and be at the forefront of change?  We are seeking a Community Nursing Sister/Qualified District Nurse to work within our integrated Primary Care Hub, which covers Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard (this post predominately covers Leighton Buzzard). Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone who is dynamic and motivated and has the confidence to support, coach and develop individuals to deliver consistently high quality services.  You will also be required to manage your own caseload. Excellent communication and time management skills, and sound clinical knowledge, is essential.  A flexible approach is required to accommodate the changing needs of the service along with the drive to influence service development.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You must have a driving license and have access to a vehicle in order to carry out your duties.  You will be required to work a shift pattern covering 7 days a week 08:00-16:00 or 13:00-21:00.  The post is 30 hours per week.

Education/Qalification/Training

Essential criteria
  • Registered General Nurse
  • Demonstrate evidence-based practice and up-to-date clinical skills
  • Evidence of significant post registration nursing experience including community setting.
  • Post-registration qualification in a relevant clinical field
  • Relevant teaching/mentorship qualification and evidence of teaching skills.
Desirable criteria
  • Specialist Practitioner Qualification
  • Nurse Prescriber

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of and commitment to multi-professional working
  • Understanding of the interface between primary and secondary care
  • Comprehensive understanding of partnership working
  • Ability to manage a caseload

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Literate in IT/Computer Skills
  • Knowledge of the principles of Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults and Children
  • Knowledge of the principles of health promotion and prevention of illness
  • Good oral communication skills based on fluency on the English language
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrate an understanding of national government initiatives in health & social care & how they impact on local services.

Other

  • Current driving licence
  • Ability to travel across sites and across Bedfordshire to meet patient needs and attend meetings, etc.
