Band 3 - Bengali or Sylheti Speaking Bank Interpreter

Are you fluent in Sylheti or Bengali/Bangla? Do you have a passion for helping others and bridging communication gaps? Then we want YOU to join our team as a bank interpreter for our Talking Therapy Services in Newham and Tower Hamlets.  Being an interpreter isn't just about knowing two languages. It's about making a real difference in people's lives. As an interpreter, you'll have the opportunity to facilitate meaningful conversations between patients and therapists, ensuring that everyone is understood and can express themselves fully.

You will be part of a supportive team dedicated to improving mental health services for the Bangladeshi community in Tower Hamlets and Newham.  You will gain valuable training and experience in the field of mental health and counselling, which can open doors to various career opportunities in the future.

Whether you're a student, a parent, or have another job, we offer flexible hours that fit around your schedule.  We also offer both remote and in-person sessions.

In this role you will be providing professional Bengali or Sylheti language interpreting services to patients accessing NHS Talking Therapies Services in Tower Hamlets and Newham.  We offer face-to-face, video call and telephone appointments to patients from 8am to 8pm.  Interpreting involves listening to, understanding and memorising content in the original 'source' language.  You will need good listening skills and a clear speaking voice. You would also need to be able to concentrate and think quickly.

·       Excellent communication, language and organisation skills

·       Confidence, enthusiasm and a professional attitude

·       Be able to speak English and Sylheti or Bengali/Bangla

·       Hold an Enhanced DBS certificate (or be willing to apply for one)
