We have opportunities for Band 7 Practitioner’s (Nurse Practitioners or Allied Health) to join our supportive nurse led team at Edgware and Finchley Walk in Centre’s.   You will be joining innovative teams leading the way in delivering community minor injury and illness unscheduled care.

Main duties of the job

  • CLCH Walk in Centres were rated as good in our last CQC inspection and focus on giving a high-quality service to patients. The centre is open 8am to 8pm 365 days a year and has X-ray facilities enabling a wide range of clinical experience.
  • Working with a team of nurses and doctors, our urgent care services offer an educationally focused safe and effective environment which will allow you to professionally grow and develop a repertoire of clinical skills and theoretical knowledge, through work-based education and training. A practice educator is in post to support learning and development.
  • The opportunity to develop skills, such as mentoring our trainee practitioners and to have the support and supervision of advanced clinical practitioners in the service.

  • To lead, motivate and support team members in the facilitation of professional and clinical development.
  • Participate actively in the in-service training and provide teaching through mentorship and clinical supervision within the specialty.
  • Provide operational management and clinical leadership for the team including punctuality, shift allocation and rest breaks and triage. Respond to immediate sickness absence (requesting Bank staff, as per protocol as required) and ensure efficient and effective use of resources and estates
  • Respond to clinical incidents, accidents and complaints in accordance with CLCH policy.

Education/ Qualification

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration or Registered Health Professional (physio, paramedic) with HCPC
  • Evidence of continued professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of continuing professional education and training at Masters level in an Advanced Clinical Practitioner program or willingness to work towards an MSc in Advanced Practice.
  • Independent Prescriber (or on pathway to complete)
  • Qualification in prehospital care or community care
  • Qualification in teaching or practice-based learning.
  • University accredited Minor injuries Module
  • Paediatric Nurse Practitioner qualification
  • University accredited paediatric advanced assessment module

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven experience of utilising expert diagnostic and clinical skills to provide autonomous, unscheduled medical care and management of patients presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions
  • Proven experience in assessing, managing and treating minor injuries and minor illnesses.
  • Experience of effectively working in collaboration, negotiating and liaising across organisational boundaries.
  • Experience in monitoring clinical standards.
  • Proven ability to prioritise and manage own workload with minimal supervision.
  • Experience caring for patients of all age ranges.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in either emergency/ unscheduled care or a primary care environment
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of team / service/ staff management.
  • Experience of implementing evidence-based care and developing others to do so
  • Experience of conducting research projects and audit.
  • Experience of change management and implementing change in practice
  • Evidence of innovation in practice
