The North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust is a medium-sized acute and community trust with over 525 beds and over 600 community staff, serving more than 600,000 people living across Enfield and Haringey and the surrounding areas, including Barnet and Waltham Forest.
The hospital has been on its present site for over 100 years and was established as an NHS trust by statute in December 1990. They provide services in collaboration with a range of partners, including local GPs, acute, mental health and other community health service providers across North Central London.

Following the transfer of Enfield Community Services on 1st April 2023, this has increased as we have welcomed over 600 new staff including District Nurses, Community Matrons, Community Physiotherapists, Psychologists and many more across a wide range of adult and children’s community services in Enfield. Job overview
This adult community physiotherapy team has a full time vacancy which we wish to fill with a dynamic passionate physiotherapist who wishes to join our existing team of band 7’s, band 6’s, band 5 and technical instructors.
Do you have a specific interest in community working? Our service provides assessment and treatment of adult domiciliary patients, neurological outpatients and falls prevention group.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic clinician, keen to work with us in shaping and developing our services to meet the challenges of delivering appropriate care in the right place and at the right time. We need you to be passionate about making a difference to patients and their families. We are continually looking at our service delivery and how our services can integrate more fully to provide 1st class care to the population we serve.
To perform comprehensive specialist physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a clinical diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.
To be responsible for the day to day organisation of the physiotherapy service to a designated caseload.
To support and educate patients and carers in managing complex Physiotherapy needs.
To work closely with other agencies e.g. specialist equipment services, wheelchair services, voluntary, charity and private agencies to ensure Physiotherapy treatment is fully integrated into the patients care programmes where applicable.
To hold full responsibility for own caseload of patients, working with out direct supervision.
To give and receive supervision to contribute to service delivery. Training takes the form of regular formal training with peers, peer review and case conferences. Self directed access to advice and support from the Clinical lead as available, as required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
To supervise and support less experienced staff, assistants, Technical instructors and students on placement.
Undertake evidence-based audit and projects to further own and others clinical practice. Make recommendations to the Clinical Lead for changes to practice in order to improve services to patients.
To contribute to and support the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service protocols with support and guidance from the Clinical Lead.
To be aware of and highlight to line manager any clinical governance issues pertaining to your role and practice.
To contribute to the delivery of health promotion activities within the service and the wider Trust initiatives.
Person specification
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential criteria
- H.C.P.C Registration.
- Evidence from C.P.D. portfolio of ongoing relevant post-graduate training both theoretical and practical to a high level. This will be accredited at Masters or equivalent level.
Desirable criteria
- Membership of professional body or interest group.
- Any other relevant training & education.
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
Essential criteria
- Recent substantial experience at band 6 level/equivalent in relevant area and able to demonstrate appropriate postgraduate experience working across physiotherapy core areas to support the rehabilitation needs of the patient.
- Experience of working as part of a team.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of inpatients and multidisciplinary services.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Essential criteria
- Ability to work as an autonomous practitioner.
- Ability to process, manage and communicate complex information. To do this in a sensitive and clear manner in order to ensure optimum understanding and co-operation.
