Band 7 Musculoskeletal Lead, Advanced Specialist Podiatrist 

Diabetes Foot Protection Service

An exciting opportunity is now available for a qualified podiatrist with musculoskeletal (MSK) expertise and an interest in diabetes to become a clinical lead in a Podiatry team at NELFT.

We are looking for a clinician who is passionate about the care they give to patients and who want to make a real difference in diabetic foot care.

At NELFT, we have secured significant and long-term transformation funding and are undertaking an ambitious and exciting programme of co-design, with our partners in the Integrated Care Board (ICB), primary care networks (PCN) and secondary care. Our aim is to improve and enhance our service delivery to meet the challenges that face our diabetic population in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge through integration and collaboration. We want to improve patient outcomes to help our residents reduce the risk of developing active limb-threatening or life-threatening diabetic foot problem.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a member of the Diabetes Foot Protection Service (FPS) who has podiatry skills and will be responsible for providing evidence based comprehensive assessment, review and treatment and support the team by delivering this service to the local population at  moderate and high-risk. They will take lead responsibility for delivering high quality, timely, accessible, and evidence-based services for patients requiring MSK clinical intervention.
The post holder will be working within agreed local care pathways, codes of practice and professional standards, and specifically embedding Clinical quality guidelines.
Experienced podiatrists will provide specialist and complex podiatry care for a range of acute and chronic foot pathologies within community settings. The post holder will complement the service by using their first-class assessment, diagnostic and communication skills to develop programmes of care and their clinical expertise to implement treatment plans.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust.  All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.  As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.  The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Higher Cost area supplement

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,551 to a maximum of £5,735).
