Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Patient Safety and Risk Manager for Women's Services to join our established and friendly Women’s and Children’s Governance Team.
We are seeking a highly motivated enthusiastic individual with experience and knowledge of risk/governance to work collaboratively with the paediatric and governance teams. You will have had demonstrable success in a clinical role working as part of a multi-professional team, be visible in the clinical areas and be able to establish your credibility with the multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
The women's and children's division is part of the Barnet hospital business unit but the post holder will be required to work at the Royal Free site. There may be occasions when you will be asked to work at one of the other satellite sites within the Trust that provide maternity services.
You will be either a Registered Nurse/Midwife with substantial post registration experience, ideally but not essential, with a background in paediatrics or neonatal care. Most of all, you will be able to motivate and engage others to ensure that the services we provide supports the Trust’s values, improve patient safety as well as having a pioneering approach that is not afraid to challenge convention and traditional ways of working.
Responsibilities will include:
• enabling all staff to actively participate in identifying, actioning and evaluating all patient safety and risk issues;
• leading and supporting the communication and management of the issues through Datix in line with policy
• support investigation leads in the investigation of safety event analyse trends to ensure actions are put in place to reduce the risk of recurrence
• writing timely reports which clearly identify the issues, lessons learned and changes to practice, triangulate all patient safety data to ensure divisional focus is appropriate to risk and protects patient safety.

- Registered midwife
Experience

- 3 years’ experience working in relevant field
- Experience working in an environment with conflicting pressures and changing workload
- Experience of working within a team and of developing good working relationships with internal and external staff at all levels
- Experience working within the NHS
- Experience of collating data and extrapolating information
- Demonstrates analytical and problem solving skills
- Experience of change management initiatives
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working across multiple sites
- Experience of managing staff
