Our outpatient department at Royal Free Hospital is committed to developing team clinical skills and improving patient experience through delivery of high-quality care across multiple specialities.  

The post is varied, and requires motivational and leadership skills, together with clinical skills and experience in an acute setting. In return, you will be continually enhancing and refining your own clinical skills as you coach and develop others.

Main duties of the job

JOB SUMMARY:

The clinical practice educator will work collaboratively with the Lead nurse to deliver effective, high quality, safe patient centred care. The post holder will lead the continuing education, training and professional development for registered nurses and healthcare support workers, to promote the acquisition of new skills and knowledge. Leading  ongoing development of the team and also drive forward a continuing education programme to ensure that nursing staff acquire the professional standards, knowledge and competencies when caring for people.

 The CPE will: 

 §  Ensure that mandatory training requirements are fulfilled and that staff education and development is aligned to staff appraisal and corporate, divisional, unit and service development needs

§  Assist in carrying out the training needs analysis and agree educational funding applications in conjunction with the lead nurse and Matron

§  Develop and reinforce use of guidelines and policies and undertake audits and reviews within the clinical area with the outlook of implementing best evidenced based practice

§  Demonstrate clinical leadership and act as a role model at all times

§  Collaborate with the qualified plaster technician to provide joint training, in regards to patient care delivered within the plaster room

§  Formulate and carry out clinical teaching and supervision sessions for all team members

§  Assist with the development and running of in-house educational programmes.
