An exciting opportunity has risen for an experienced Tissue Viability Nurse (TVN) to Lead the TVN team at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.  This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and motivated healthcare professional who is keen to deliver a high standard of care and demonstrate compassionate leadership.

The successful candidate will provide professional and clinical leadership in all aspects of Tissue Viability through clinical expertise. It is expected that the applicant has innovative approach to working within the field of Tissue Viability and also leads on education and training for staff in the hospital and within their team.

Furthermore, the successful candidate will have the authority and flexibility to initiate and develop practice within a clinical governance framework. The successful candidate will be fully orientated and supported to fulfil their roles and we endeavour to support attendance relevant study days and conferences.

They will work in an advanced clinical role, leading and developing nursing practice within the specialty, at master’s level. The post holder should be practicing at a higher level of practice competency.

They must demonstrate a sound knowledge in tissue viability and have the ability to co-ordinate relevant clinical issues Trust wide and represent those views both internally across the working sector & externally as required.

The post holder will be a member of the relevant service group/groups and represent nursing issues accordingly. In order to develop and deliver specialist advice and support the service to patients requiring specialist wound care; this post will maintain a strong clinical component.

They will implement and lead nurse-led services, sustaining a change culture, in line with the national health service agenda related to pressure ulcer prevention and management, and general complex wound care.

They will participate in NCL and ICB projects in order to improve and provide seamless care across the sector.

The post holder will ensure that governance  process are adhered to in all aspects of care in relation to Tissue Viability.

  • First level registration
  • BSc in relevant subject
  • Wound management and/or leg ulcer modules.
Meini prawf dymunol
  • Mentorship/ preceptorship or equivalent teaching qualification

Experience

  • 5 years post registration experience
  • 18 months at band 6 in tissue viability or acute care related speciality
  • Experience in managing complex wounds
  • Competent in managing leg ulcers, including compression bandaging
  • Experience of working in inpatient and outpatient setting
  • Experience of MDT working
  • Experience of managing a staff team
  • Experience of implementing change in a clinical setting

Skills and aptitudes

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with attention to detail
  • Knowledge of current advances in wound care, pressure ulcers and leg ulcer management
  • An understanding of quality, clinical risk, clinical governance, national benchmarks and other professional issues
