Nutrition and Dietetics Team - NELFT (North East London Foundation Trust)

NELFT's Redbridge & Havering, Nutrition and Dietetics team are excited to announce an opportunity for a permanent full time Band 3 Dietetic and Clerical Assistant Practitioner.  We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic, and confident professional to contribute to our growing team's success, delivering exceptional care across the mentioned localities.

Main duties of the job

·       Patient Support: To provide a service to patients identified at nutritional risk under the direction of the Registered Dietitians. This includes screening, nutritional assessment, review dietary plans and monitoring within own competencies, recognising own limitations and seeking advice when necessary.  This will include continuously evaluating and acting on outcomes.

·       Nutrition Support & Weight Management: Using local guidelines, deliver first line advice including for oral nutrition support for community and nursing home residents across BHR and weight management under dietetic supervision within scope of practice.

·       Administrative Support: To take part, and assist, in the planning and administration relating to day to day running of the caseload.

·       In-Person and Virtual Care: Confidently deliver care both in-person and virtually, adapting to the evolving healthcare landscape.

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement – London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,551and a maximum payment of £5,735 per annum pro rata).

Desirable criteria
  • Familiarity with first line strategies for oral nutrition support

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience working as a dietetic or health care assistant
  • Minimum 2 years working in an NHS setting
  • Experience working with adult and paediatric populations
  • Experience weighing, interpreting and monitoring patients’ weight changes
Desirable criteria
  • Experience delivering group education

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ level 5 in Nutrition or equivalent level of proven experience
Desirable criteria
  • Nutrition or Dietetic qualification

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships
  • Clear communication skills including excellent writing, data entry and presentation skills
  • Able to work autonomously and use own initiative
