 Are you a nursing associate looking for a supportive team and the opportunity to develop new skills? This is an exciting time to join the community nursing service in West Herts. We are developing new community pathways which will support the delivery of more care in people’s homes, and to enable us to do this we have a range of new learning and development opportunities available through the CLCH Academy. 

We have a new opportunity for a Band 4 Nursing Associate to join our community nursing teams in the St Albans & Harpenden Locality.

You will be supported to develop and achieve competencies to provide individualised care to patients who have long-term conditions and to complete various nursing assessments and following treatment regimes.

You will need to be passionate and enthusiastic about patient care, putting patients at the heart of everything you do. You will be working in a multi-professional team and will need to be able to think on the spot and be empathetic.

For this role you will need to be able to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with other staff and patients.

You will be passionate about our business, creating a culture of continuous improvement, where patient welfare is at the heart of all you do.

It will be your responsibility to ensure that your behaviour and values reflect those of CLCH.

The post holder will organise and prioritise their own day to day work tasks and activities, and delegate tasks to junior colleagues.

 

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to have access to a car to complete patient visits in the community settings.

The post holder may be required to work from different bases within the Hertfordshire borough

The role of the Nursing Associate is to work with the multi professional team and the Registered Nurse to assess, plan, organise and deliver clinical care in line with service and patient needs, as agreed with supervising clinicians. 

The nursing associate has a breadth of knowledge across the lifespan and across the fields of nursing, providing holistic and person-centred care and support for people of all ages and in a variety of settings. The nursing associate works independently under the leadership of registered nurses, working within the sphere of nursing and care and within all aspects of the nursing process. (Health Education England 2018) 

Nursing associates are equipped with the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes and behaviours relevant to employment as a nursing associate and will work to a nationally recognised Nurse and Midwifery (NMC) code of conduct and must meet the NMC standards of proficiency.

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register
  • Educated to a minimum level 5 Foundation degree level specific to nursing associate practice
  • GCSEs Grade A-C in Maths and English or equivalent
  • Care Certificate

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of working within a health / care setting in the field of area applied for
  • Relevant experience of working self-directed or as part of a team.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the team and the organisation, and how the role contributes to service development
  • Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within the Code.
  • Relevant clinical skills in the area of work
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal, non- verbal communication) with patients/relatives, carers and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • IT awareness and ability to use NHS systems
