Main duties of the job
Specialist Biomedical Scientist
We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Biomedical Scientist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), to join the London NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme Hub at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust.
The NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme, London Programme Hub, serves a population of over 9 million within London Clinical Commissioning Group and coordinates the activities of up to 8 Screening Centres, for Faecal Immunochemical Testing (FIT).
We are a fully accredited Laboratory (UKAS ISO 15189:2012) and a department that comprises four modalities: Laboratory, National Call Centre, Administration, and Print Room.
The ideal candidate will have a BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent, be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Biomedical Scientist and have completed or working towards the IBMS Specialist Portfolio (Clinical Chemistry). Evidence of continual professional development (CPD) will be expected to be demonstrated at interview.

Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
- HCPC registration as Biomedical Scientist
Desirable criteria
- Undertaken supervisory or management courses/experience in line management
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Minimum two years experience working as a Biomedical Scientist
- Ability to show flexibility by performing multiple tasks under pressure
Desirable criteria
- Previous NHS experience
- Experience of identifying and troubleshooting instrument errors

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
