Job overview

London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH) is the second largest acute provider of healthcare in Northwest London providing healthcare for a population of over 1 million people in the boroughs of Brent, Harrow, and Ealing.  We have 3 hospital sites which are Northwick Park, Ealing, and Central Middlesex. The trust provides acute care in North West London across 3 main hospital sites, Northwick Park, Ealing and Central Middlesex and also provides a state-of-the-art Elective Orthopaedic Centre for North West London and a Community Diagnostic Centre Hub.

 

The Trust employs Circa 10,000 WTE who collectively provide care for the 1 million population they serve across its 3 boroughs, providing health care to one of the most diverse populations in England: with an income of Circa £1Billion annually.

 

We are looking for an experienced executive Chief Finance Officer (CFO) to continue to deliver the Trusts ambitious financial plan and continue to deliver the trusts recent history of delivering a balanced financial plan in a challenged NHS environment. The postholder will also work collaboratively within the Acute Provider Collaborative (APC) ensuring an APC financial plan is delivered in partnership with the ICS.

·         Financial strategy and financial management

·         Procurement and supplies

·         Contracting and service level agreements

·         Financial risk and investment appraisal

·         Borrowings and other sources of finance

·         Covenant compliance

·         Cash flow management

·         Commercial opportunities and risks

·         Financial Systems Development.

Essential criteria
  • • Master’s qualification or to demonstrate an equivalent level of experience in management
  • • Certified accountant with recognised professional qualification
  • • Evidence of continuing personal and professional development
Desirable criteria
  • • Knowledge of the NHS Improvement Single Oversight Framework and the importance of the Chief Finance Officer accountabilities

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Experience of strategic leadership of transformational organisational change and culture in challenging economic and fiscal times
  • • A minimum of 5 years’ experience of working successfully at a Board level in a complex organisation and a minimum of 5 years’ experience of working successfully at a Board level in a complex organisation
  • • Experience of developing effective strategies such as asset management and performance, managing these strategies in a complex political environment
  • • Evidence of developing effective and influential relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • • Evidence of delivering consistently sound financial control, analysis and results based on information and performance
Desirable criteria
  • • Experience as a Board level NHS Finance Director
