Community Receptionist

Job overview
- To work as part of the Health Centre/Clinic/Hospital multi-disciplinary team, providing and efficient administrative and reception service.
- To provide front line assistance to all patients and visitors on arrival to the Health Centre/Clinic/Hospital and escalate any patient safety/deterioration concerns to clinicians on site using good communication and inter-personal skills.
- To book patient follow-up appointments accurately for community teams and clinics if appropriate
- To ensure all patients, visitors and staff are dealt with in a professional and courteous manner.
- To support the Site Team Leader / Service Manager in developing a patient focused service.
- To support the Trust who have multiple sites and on occasions, be able to work at other clinic locations, if required to do so.
- The post holder will be expected to assist with on-site clinic functions, which may vary depending upon the base, (Hub or Spoke site).
- To act professionally and courteously at all times.
- The post holder will be required to manage and prioritise their own workload.
- Comply with all Trust policies including Data Quality and the Access Policy.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of new staff team members and to attend all Mandatory training.
- The post holder will adhere to Trust policy with regards to the sensitive information that patients are providing.
Main duties of the job
An opportunity has arisen for highly motivated and enthusiastic Community Receptionists to join our Integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health Service. You will be based at Caryl Thomas Centre and Northwick park Hospital (occasionally) providing contraception and testing/treatment for the management of sexually transmitted infections.
Your role will be crucial to the smooth running of the service, as you will be the first point of contact for our service users. You will have excellent interpersonal skills to ensure that all patients have a positive experience of the service.
This non-judgemental role is within the Sexual Health field and deals with directing patients to the correct member of our multi-disciplinary team and dealing with highly confidential and sensitive issues. You will provide a professional and caring welcome to patients of all ages including teenagers, promoting access to services for young people.
You will be able to work independently using your own initiative while maintaining your role as a strong team player. You will have excellent telephone and IT skills.
Training will be provided for our IT systems and in contraception and sexual health processes.
