Job overview
A fantastic opportunity has arisen at London North West University Health Care NHS Trust for an Associate Chief Nurse (Band 8d).
The Associate Chief Nurse is accountable to the Chief Nurse primarily responsible for the provision of a high quality nursing service. They will lead on the delivery of the Nursing Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals strategy implementing and monitoring measures to provide assurance on the quality and safety of nursing midwifery and AHP practice. The post holder is a member of the Corporate Nursing Team assuming overall responsibility for nursing clinical effectiveness including the ward accreditation framework. The post will appeal to a senior nursing manager with current or previous experience of leadership within the NHS at a senior level. They will need to be able to demonstrate an understanding of complex healthcare delivery, service transformation and being able to develop collaborative partnerships to improve service delivery. A successful and proven track record of working
in a senior nurse leadership role in an acute setting is paramount.
Main duties of the job
Activity manage progress against delivery of the strategy for Nursing Midwifery and AHPs
· Ensure quality standards for nursing, midwifery and AHP practice are incorporated into policies and procedures were appropriate
· Develop professional relationships with senior multi-disciplinary colleagues at the Trust and network across the Integrated Care System.
· Professional nursing lead for nursing clinical effectiveness and the Ward Accreditation framework
· Professional nursing lead for research nurses
· Lead on the delivery of mental health workstreams
· Working closely with different Education providers support Senior Nursing and Midwifery leadership to drive forward non-medical education and research
· Professional lead for the Practice Development Nurses
· Line management responsibility for Matron Quality and Safety
· Lead for NMC revalidation and fitness to practice
· To participate is on the Silver Senior Manager on call rota

Education/ Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse or Midwife on the NMC register
- Educated to Masters level
- Leadership qualification
- Evidence of sustained personal and professional development.
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive knowledge of Nursing & Midwifery acquired through significant experience in a Senior Clinical role
- Extensive understanding of current NHS structures, policies and direction of travel
- Knowledge and experience in Quality Improvement methodology
- Experience of working across NHS organisational boundaries
Desirable criteria
- Presentation of papers and publications in peer reviewed journals
Skills, Abilities and Attributes
Essential criteria
- Well-developed negotiation and influencing skills
- Ability to establish credibility with external parties, clinical divisions, finance teams and board members

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
