Would you like to join an innovative department and participate in an interesting senior rotational post? If you want to broaden your experience of hospital Pharmacy, whilst contributing towards the work of a busy department, then this is the job for you.

We are a department that believe in equipping our Band 7 Pharmacists with skills to carry out senior roles to aid their career progression. Rotations have been developed to ensure leadership roles are key with a high emphasis on delivering teaching and training to a wide range of healthcare professionals as well as managing teams. You will be able to develop senior roles and responsibilities and we encourage individuals to take on any new responsibilities to meet their development needs. 

The Trust is incorporating Independent Prescribing training into the Senior Pharmacist rota from April 2023. 

Main duties of the job

Working in partnership with our senior pharmacist team, the post holder will have the opportunity to spend a rotation in each of the main pharmacy services, depending on the site the post holder is working on.
Rotations include:
• Specialist Gastroenterology 
• Medicines Information 
• Infectious Diseases  
• Respiratory Medicine 
• Cardiology 
• Endocrine & Rheumatology 
• Cancer services 
• Elderly care & rehabilitation 
• Acute Medicine
• Patient Services 
•Medication Safety 
•Surgery & ITU 
•HIV & Antimicrobials
The post holder provides clinical and professional support and assists the day-to day operation of the section of the department they are rotating through, as well as a clinical service to the wards, both on- and off-site. The post holder provides and supports Trainee and Junior Pharmacist training.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Masters Degree in Pharmacy (MPharm)
  • Certificate in Pharmacy Practice or Equivalent Experience
  • Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council
Desirable criteria
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy Practice or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Good, broad clinical knowledge and ability to apply to a ward and dispensary setting
  • Some experience of providing training, mentorship and supervising staff
  • Willing to take responsibility
  • Good communication skills
