This is a rare, sought-after opportunity to join the supportive and dynamic STARRS team across Northwick Park Hospital, Ealing Hospital and Central Middlesex Hospital.

STARRS is a national leader in intermediate care that aims to bring the best of hospital care to a patient’s home and therefore avoid unnecessary hospital attendances/admissions.

As a Therapy Technician you will be required to take part in delivering a quality service under the supervision and guidance of qualified therapists.  You will need to have an enthusiastic and hard-working approach, be passionate about patient care, have excellent communication/ interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a large team providing service to patients under STARRS care.

Successful applicants will receive clinical supervision, a competency framework to support induction and self-development, in-service-training and be supported with an individualised job plan. This is a rewarding and dynamic role and is known to provide opportunity for further career development.

Main duties of the job

  • To work as a therapy technician in STARRS, supporting patients to regain and sustain their levels of function.
  • To be involved in assessing patients, defining treatment needs in relation to therapy and carrying out this treatment, maintaining clinical records.
  • Undertake the learning of new skills and knowledge to include some nursing, physiotherapy and occupational therapy skills, assessing and planning social care packages in agreement with and on behalf of social services. All these skills are competency led.
  • Work in close partnership with hospital colleagues and external agencies such as Social Services, Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), Housing Associations, GPs and voluntary organisations.  This will involve attending meetings outside the Trust and sharing protocols and care management plans with the CCG and others agencies.
  • You will be expected to work collaboratively with patients, carers and with colleagues in health and social services to ensure effective service planning, policy and delivery of services to their specific patient group.
  • The post holder is required to be flexible to assist where the needs are greatest within the whole service.
  • The post holder may be asked to be involved with assessment and treatment for patients with a wide range of complex physical, sensory, perceptual and cognitive problems within A&E and community settings. Assessments will also include some inpatient assessments.
