Job overview

This is a fantastic job opportunity coming up at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust.   This has the responsibility for teaching Imperial undergraduates in their year 5 obstetrics and gynaecology firms.  The post offers the candidate the opportunity to obtain a higher qualification in Medical Education and to join part of a vibrant Undergraduate Faculty comprising 11 Teaching Fellows across a number of specialities as well as working in a very busy obstetrics and gynaecology unit.   There is the opportunity for exposure in both obstetrics and gynaecology commensurate with the successful candidates’ previous experience.   This post is best suited for someone who is planning a career in obstetrics and gynaecology but would like also to have enhanced training and education.

Main duties of the job

This job description is for a Senior Clinical fellow in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at ST5-7 level with opportunity to have training in general obstetrics and gynaecology.

The emergency gynaecology workload has increased with the reconfiguration of Emergency Departments across North West London. There is an emergency gynae/early pregnancy unit at Northwick Park and an early pregnancy unit at Ealing Hospital.  Acute pelvic sepsis is common and emergency theatre cases varied, providing opportunities for experience in managing such cases.

The job involves cross site working at Northwick Park Hospital and Ealing Hospital.  The appointee will be involved with the ST5-7 rota for obstetrics and gynaecology covering on-call commitments at Northwick Park.

Flexibility is a desired feature for any post holder.  We are a busy department and occasionally it is necessary to modify the individual time table should there be acute and unexpected shortage of staff.  The individual job plan will be discussed in detail with the successful candidate.
