We have an exciting opportunity for a  innovative  nurse to join our Looked After Children's Team within Havering 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable qualified looked after children' s nurse, to join our caring and progressive team.

We are commissioned to deliver health assessments for children placed in care by the London borough of Havering.   Health Assessments are held 6 monthly for children under 5 and yearly for children over 5 years old.

Main duties of the job

  • The Looked After Children's (LAC) Nurse will work as an integral part of a multi-agency service to provide a seamless pathway for the holistic care of Looked After Children in Havering. You will aim to improve the health outcomes of Looked after Children in accordance with the Statutory Guidance for Promoting the Health and Wellbeing of Looked After Children (DH & DoE 2015) In addition to providing comprehensive holistic health assessments, the role of the LAC Nurse includes: 
  • All LAC nurses are registered nurses with additional experience ie: health visitor or school nurse.
  • Nurses participate at LAC reviews, professional meetings and network meetings.
  • To review Health Care plans.
  • Nurses to participate in children and young person wellbeing groups in partnership with colleagues.
  • Provide packages of care for individual children.
  • Work with other agencies both within and outside of health services.
  • Direct referrals to GP and specialities.
  • Liaise with multi-disciplinary teams as required.
  • Liaise and work with Locality Hubs and Children's Centres.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust.  All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.  As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.  The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,313 to a maximum of £5,436 p.a. pro rata for part time).
