Band 4 Return to Practice Paramedic Assistant

Central London Community Healthcare (CLCH) NHS Trust are the leading provider of community health in the United Kingdom covering 11 London Boroughs and Hertfordshire with over 900

Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) in seven professional groups – Dietitians, Occupational Therapists, Orthoptists, Paramedics, Physiotherapists, Podiatrists and Speech and Language Therapists. 

Are you a Paramedic considering return to practice?

CLCH can provide you with full support to update your skills and knowledge so you can return to practice as a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered Paramedic. 

During your return to practice period we will employ you as a Band 4 Paramedic Assistant and on successful completion this can lead to a substantive registered practitioner role in one of our supportive teams.

Depending on how long you have been out of practice, the return to practice process can take between one to three months to complete.

Main duties of the job

CLCH offer to Paramedic returnees:

£800 payment from NHS England to support with childcare, study and travel costs
Employment as a Band 4 Paramedic Assistant whilst undertaking supervised practice
Full support to update skills and knowledge to return on HCPC register
Payment of HCPC registration fees on successful completion of programme
Substantive employment as a registered Paramedic in one of our supportive and valued teams
Enhanced Preceptorship and Practice Development AHP support with a comprehensive induction, education and training programme

Return to Practice is open for all HCPC registrants who have been off the register for 2 or more years, or for those who did not register within 5 years of qualification. The HCPC states the following requirement:

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

a.    Apply clinical reasoning, analysis, assessment and re-assessment skills and patient centred goal setting approach by providing therapeutic treatment programme under the supervision of a Registered Paramedic.

b.    Be responsible for a clinical caseload working to agreed therapeutic treatment objectives and assist Registered Paramedic in carrying out individual treatment plans.

c.     Provide therapeutic interventions are part of a multi-professional team within an agreed scope of practice by a Registered Paramedic.

d.    Deliver, plan and implement an effective and competent therapy programme under the direction and supervision of a Registered Paramedic.  supervision of a Registered Paramedic.

  • Recognised degree as Paramedic with HCPC
Desirable criteria
  • Short courses in development of physical skills/child related medical conditions

Experience

  • Previous experience as a Clinical Paramedic: Working with physical difficulties
  • Working with parents and carers
  • Working within a health environment
  • Writing notes
  • Administration tasks
Desirable criteria
  • Experience working with databases/excel spread sheets
  • Experience working with electronic patient records such as systmone/RIO/EMIS

Knoiwledge
