Job overview

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust’s services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.

Person specification

Person Spec

Essential criteria
  • HND/HNC in Engineering or Building related subjects, plus specialist knowledge acquired through.
  • Leadership & Management Qualifications (CMI or ILM)
  • City and Guilds Engineering qualification
  • Ordinary National Certificate or Equivalent in an Engineering discipline (Electrical/Mechanical)
  • Experience in management of Supervisors, Administrators and multi-skilled trade staff.
  • Good understanding of Building Services Engineering systems.
  • Experience across mechanical, plumbing and building trades.
  • Competent with using the Building Management Systems (BMS) for fault finding and energy efficiency.
  • Experience in working with steam systems (E.g. steam boilers)
  • Building & Engineering services knowledge. Good organisational skills, computer literate. Must be reliable hard working and dedicated.
  • Ability to organise motivate and manage a multi-skilled workforce
  • Ability to organise and manage external contractors
Desirable criteria
  • Bachelors/Master’s Degree or Equivalent in an Engineering discipline (Electrical/Mechanical)
  • Authorised person MGPS (HTM 02)
  • Authorised person HVAC (HTM 03)
  • Authorised person LV (HTM 06-02)
  • Authorised person lift maintenance (HTM 08-02 & LOLER & SAFed)
  • Authorised person pressure systems (JSP 375)
  • BOAS (Boiler operation accreditation scheme)
  • Practical skills in electrical and mechanical fields.
