We are pleased to be able to offer a fixed-term post for 11 months to a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist within the Harrow Adult Community SALT service. In May 2024, our team was awarded Quality Development Unit status, a recognition of our commitment to providing high standard patient-centred care with emphasis on continuing focus on quality and service development. 

You will have the opportunity of working with patients withing the area of Harrow, offering both domiciliary and outpatient care and will be responsible for service development projects and for supporting junior members of staff. You will provide assessment and therapy in dysphagia and communication to a wide range of adult clients with complex conditions including acquired and progressive neurological conditions. We have two bases across the borough, Honeypot Lane Health Centre and Alexandra Avenue Health Centre. We have excellent links with our local acute SLT team, the Harrow Dietetics Service and the rest of the Rehab Multi-disciplinary team. 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The successful post holder will be part of the SLT team that will offer support and supervision, but they will be expected to work autonomously in client’s homes, nursing homes and outpatient clinics. This will be with support from the wider multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will be committed to improving patient experience at all times. We will provide a lot of opportunities to engage in service development, including research, audits and QI projects. A framework of regular supervision including 1:1, peer supervision, and appraisal is in place. We will also support your continuing professional development with training opportunities both internal and external.

Swydd ddisgrifiad a phrif gyfrifoldebau manwl

We require one Speech and Language Therapist with experience of working with adults with acquired and progressive neurological conditions. You will be competent in both dysphagia and communication, and you will be keen to learn and to develop your assessment and rehabilitation skills.  The role requires someone who is a team player and patient-centred with excellent communication skills.  Having a driving license is also desirable to this role and we can provide access to pool cars.
