Job overview
Our Home Birth team is comprised of a group of experienced and motivated midwives who have established a dedicated midwifery team to provide full care across the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period to women and birthing people choosing to give birth at home.
If you enjoy caring for women and birthing people and their families at home, have developed or would like to develop your skills in supporting and optimising physiological birth in the home environment as well as in the hospital and you wish to provide safe and personalised continuity based care then we would love to hear from you.
You will be an integral member of the team as well as developing key working relationships with other community and hospital staff and the multidisciplinary team, ensuring the provision of high quality, effective midwifery care. You will support your team to ensure the smooth running of your service supported by the Matron for the area and Consultant Midwife and work in partnership with women and birthing people and their families, ensuring care plans are compassionate, personalised and supportive.
Main duties of the job
· Responsible for caring for a caseload of women and birthing people choosing to give birth at home, co-ordinating and referring care where necessary and communicating plans within the team and the wider MDT.
· Taking part in the 24 hour provision of a high quality, effective midwifery service for women and birthing people choosing to give birth at home.
· Manage your diary independently and be able to prioritise your workload ensuring smooth communication with both staff and women and birthing people.
· As a lead professional for uncomplicated pregnancies, in partnership with women and birthing people, plan and implement individualised midwifery-led care packages.
· Support robust MDT working for the planning and provision of care to those women and birthing people who make personalised care plans outside of clinical recommendations due to additional complexities.

· Support a rota for 24 hour cover within the community homebirth midwifery service.
· Be an autonomous practitioner providing safe and personalised care in all aspects of midwifery practice, which includes providing direct care to women and birthing people.
· Contribute to the development of all staff including student midwives, junior medical staff and support workers through evidence based teaching and empowerment.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Practicing midwife with evidence of practice in all areas of midwifery
- Degree level or equivalent experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Mentorship qualification
Desirable criteria
- NLS
- NIPE
Experience

- Facilitate effective team working
- Communicating effectively with women, staff and other agencies
- Ability to practice within the scope of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of experience in a homebirth setting

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
