Job overview

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated GPHC registered Senior Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy team at Kingston Hospital site to assist with the day to day efficient and effective service of pharmacy distribution and IV fluids.

 

You would be expected to deputise for the Chief Pharmacy Technician and cross cover for the purchasing co-ordinator.

 

This role will suit someone with existing hospital pharmacy experience with an interest in pharmacy purchasing and distribution services.

 

You will require excellent communication skills and be able to work under pressure, multi-task and meet deadlines while working in a fast-paced environment.

Main duties of the job

As the senior pharmacy technician of purchasing and distribution service your main duties include:

Provide day to day management of the pharmacy distribution and IV

fluid service, including: co-ordination of workflow, tasks and supervision

of the pharmacy stores assistants,

Acting as the responsible person for good stock management and control,

Supervising and participating in the medicine’s distribution service,

Supervising and participating in the goods in receipting process, 

Deputising for the chief pharmacy technician and purchasing coordinator,

Provide services to external customers including community units.

 

On occasion you will be expected to cover the purchasing coordinator, work cross site at Teddington Memorial Hospital and arrange cover for the IV fluid service. 

 

You will also be expected to participate in late duties, weekend working and bank holidays.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To deputise for the Chief pharmacy technician to oversee the day to day running of the pharmacy distribution service.

Responsible to lead the teams and implement changes that benefit the service.

Promote and manage good stock control within the department.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BTEC or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences & services (or equivalent)
  • Registered with the General pharmaceutical council (GPhC)
Desirable criteria
  • Accuracy Checking Qualification

Experience and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Hospital Pharmacy experience
  • Pharmacy stores or pharmacy purchasing experience
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to motivate a team
  • Computer literate including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of using CMM (formerly known as JAC)
