Kingston Maternity is a popular service with approximately 4600 births per annum, and approximately 15% of these occur on the Birth Centre.

The most recent National Maternity Survey in 2021 rated Kingston in the Top 5 best performing maternity services in London.

Main duties of the job

We have an exciting opportunity to expand our current midwifery  workforce and are seeking to recruit senior midwife (Band 6) to join the Antenatal Clinic team. 

We wish to nurture aspiring clinical experts and leaders and we regularly provide secondment or career opportunities within the service.   

The post holder will be a member of the Antenatal Clinic team, working with the maternity team to provide woman with high quality, safe midwifery care and ensuring the needs of the women are met.

The care will be evidence based and holistic in meeting women’s needs in a variety of practice settings. The post holder will assist with phlebotomy and administrative tasks in Antenatal Clinic.

In the absence of a Band 7 Team Leader, the post holder will lead the team and manage the workload.

Our service is funded to a ratio of 1 midwife to 24 women, enabling high quality midwifery focused care to be provided. 

Current services include an effective alongside Midwifery Led Unit (14% of births); a growing Home Birth service (approx. 4% of births) and specialist clinics (Fetal Medicine, Pre-term Surveillance, Multiple Birth, Diabetes, and Specialist Midwives services).

There are also valuable opportunities to continue self-development rotating to Antenatal Clinic, Day Assessment Unit, Community or an opportunity to join one of our Continuity of Carer Teams.
