Job overview

  • Due to retirement of our current Matron, we are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Matron to take a key leadership role within our division.
  • As a key member of the nursing leadership team, you will be passionate about providing the best possible patient care across all areas of the division.
  • Responsible for ensuring that our patients and our staff are at the centre of everything we do; you will thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment, and committed to the delivery of high quality, safe care supporting excellent outcomes.
  • We are looking for someone with the drive and determination to enable transformational and sustainable improvements in patient care and safety.
  • As an experienced senior nurse, you will have knowledge of workforce management and governance. Ideally , you will have a background in the specialty.
  • The successful candidate will have access to development opportunities to progress in their role and future aspirations.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will provide Clinical Leadership to the clinical teams within the Trauma and Orthopedics and Rheumatology service line. 
  • They will support the overall day-to-day functioning of the inpatient and outpatient clinical areas , ensuring that the highest quality of patient centred care is delivered by the appropriately skilled nursing workforce and through effective leadership, setting, monitoring and maintenance of professional standards and collaborative working.
  • They will be pivotal in the  management of complaints and leading the nursing contribution to Clinical Governance, monitoring clinical and environmental standards and act as a source to continuously improve these.
  • The Matron will contribute to the strengthened role of their clinical areas supporting the development of effective clinical leaders at all levels, ensuring that leadership and clinical practice functions are carried out effectively and making best use of available resources.
  • They will act as a role model and work within legislation and Trust procedures monitoring and maintaining professional standards.
  • The Matron will be visible and accessible in order to provide assistance and advice to the workforce, patients and carers, playing a key proactive role in quality and safety improvement.

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse
  • Evidence of ongoing development at senior management level
  • Practice Assessor of equivalent

Experience
