International Surgical Oncology Fellow In General Surgery

Trosolwg o'r swydd

An exciting opportunity exists to work at the Royal London Hospital as a Lewin fellow in General Surgery.

The Royal London Hospital is a major central London teaching centre, with provides complex tertiary and regional services in major surgical specialties including upper and lower gastrointestinal surgery, hepato-pancreatico-biliary surgery, vascular and trauma surgery. The Trauma Service cares for multiply injured patients, involving participation in the trauma team response, serving the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service.

This post carries a unique emphasis and opportunity to combine clinical and research training to nurture future clinician scientist, who wish to be at the forefront of translational research and establish their own research programme in the new future in their own institution and respective country. It is envisaged that this fellowship will allow the trainee to develop laboratory skills at the same time as surgical skills. Extensive research facilities exist at Barts Health NHS Trust and Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry.

The Clinical Fellow (CT1/2 Level) may be appointed to the following firms.

The  appointee will be responsible for both inpatient elective and emergency work, as well as participate in the on-call SHO level rota for General, Vascular and Trauma Surgery. Whilst on call, the appointee will be in a team composed of a specialist registrar (ST3-9 level), SHO (CT1-2 level) and an FY1.
