Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated person to be part of the Waltham Forest Rehabilitation Service.
The Waltham Forest Rehabilitation Service a multidisciplinary team consisting of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Rehabilitation Assistants and Rehabilitation Practitioners .
The team provide short term intensive rehabilitation to patients in their own homes following a period of illness or injury. You will have support from and work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide patient centred rehabilitation programmes.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an individual who has:
- Relevant experience in a health and social care setting and base level of Occupational therapy/Physiotherapy knowledge
- Knowledge of patient/client conditions relevant to community rehabilitation
- Ability to work under own direction
- Able to travel to meet the need of the role
The successful candidate will work alongside the therapy staff to promote independence and improve function for people recently discharged from hospital.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High Cost Area Supplement – Outer London
Outer London – 15% of basic salary, with a minimum of £4,551 and maximum of £5,735, pro rata for part time staff

Essential criteria
- Relevant NVQ Level 3 or equivalent achieved
- Relevant experience in a healthcare setting and base level of therapy knowledge
Desirable criteria
- Associate Practitioner Course or relevant experience
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience of working as a band 3 rehabilitation assistant in a community setting
- Minimum of two years at a band 3 or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Experience of providing supervision
- Awareness of relevant therapy techniques
- Experience of working in adult social care
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- An awareness of NHS Plan, NSF and clinical governance priorities
- Knowledge of patient/client conditions relevant to the community setting
- Knowledge of multi-professional working
- Understand the need for professional conduct
