Staff Nurse - Cardiac Surgery at St Bartholomew's Hospital

Band 5

Barts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, and one of Britain’s leading healthcare providers.

The Barts Health group of NHS hospitals is entering an exciting new era on our improvement journey to becoming an outstanding organisation with a world-class clinical reputation. Having lifted ourselves out of special measures, we now have the impetus and breathing space to chart a fresh course in which we are continually striving to improve all our services for patients.

Our vision is to be a high-performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation, and providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in east London and beyond. That means being a provider of excellent patient safety, known for delivering consistently high standards of harm-free care and always caring for patients in the right place at the right time. It also means being an outstanding place to work, in which our WeCare values and behaviours are visible to all and guide us in how we work together.

Barts Health supports the Pregnancy Loss Pledge and commits to supporting their staff through the distress of miscarriage.

Job overview

We are excited to be recruiting nurses to work on one of our cardiac surgical wards in a world-leading cardiac centre in the heart of the City of London where they will join our team of dedicated staff, caring for patients pre and post cardiothoracic surgery

Main duties of the job

Are you an enthusiastic and motivated registered nurse? As a teaching hospital, personal development is highly valued and we will work with you to ensure you have access to all of the Trust’s education resources including our education programmes and leadership opportunities. We will actively encourage your career and professional development by supporting courses that are relevant to your clinical speciality. Rotation into Critical care is a possibility after 8 months –1 year of working on the ward also following discussion. Successful candidates will be supported by Junior Sisters, the Ward Manager, Practice Development Nurse and Advanced Clinical Practitioners.

We are proud of the fact that our nurses gain invaluable experience here at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, through which they are ideally placed to move into more senior roles, or acquire new skills in other departments and we welcome interest from both newly qualified nurses and nurses who have been registered for longer who are looking for a change.

Ready to take on a new challenge? We look forward to having you join us.
