An excellent opportunity has arisen for a highly specialist rotational Occupational Therapist with an interest and experience in neurology to join the Acute Neurosciences team. You will be part of a large, friendly, and dynamic multidisciplinary team, based at Royal London Hospital, delivering evidence based occupational therapy to a multi diverse population.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for Neuro Occupational Therapy, excellent communication skills, plenty of initiative and enthusiasm, and with the ability to work autonomously and as a part of a wider MDT.
Within Bart’s Health, we offer a robust teaching and training programme with the opportunity to complete quality improvement and audit projects and we provide a supportive and engaging environment to develop and grow our therapists. You will have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills through supporting and supervising occupational therapists and support workers. You will have the opportunities to develop your clinical skills utilising evidence based practice with support and guidance from our Band 8a clinical specialist neuro OT.

· To play a major and specialist role in the advanced assessment, treatment and clinical management of patients with a range of traumatic musculoskeletal and neurological injuries, determining the clinical diagnosis, functional deficits and occupational therapy treatment program required.
· To be dynamic in developing efficient and effective OT working processes to assist in producing a fully multi-professional team approach
· To work with the Clinical Lead Therapists to develop the service to best meet changing health and social care agendas
· The post holder is responsible for a team of staff in their clinical area and may be required to work in more than one speciality area.
· The post holder will rotate approximately every 18 months.
· Speciality areas include: Major Trauma and Neurosciences, Acute and hyperacute stroke and hyperacute neurorehabilitation services.

- • BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy degree or equivalent
- • State registered (HCPC)
- • Fulfills KSF outline for Occupational Therapist
- • Relevant post graduate clinical experience, including experience within Stroke, Major Trauma, Orthopaedics, Neurosciences and Hand Therapy.
- • CRB clearance
- • Clinical Educators Qualification

- • Member of the British Association of Occupational Therapy
Experience

- • Clinical experience in the NHS or similar health service across range of acute/rehab settings
- • Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including attendance at post graduate course/training relevant to neurology specialty

Knowledge/Skills

- • Knowledge of a range of clinical conditions, particularly in relation to patients post trauma and neurological conditions, and acute stroke
- • Ability to manage a patient with spasticity
- • Ability to assess, treat and appropriately discharge patients with complex cognitive presentations including PDOC & executive dysfunction
- • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels across the Department and Directorate
- • Effective presentation skills
- • Ability to demonstrate enthusiasm towards teaching and sharing knowledge
- • Understanding of own ability to identify learning needs and interests
