Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Staff Nurse on the Neurology Patients Investigation Unit-11D ward , fix term contract for 12 months – Maternity cover. We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills and a good working knowledge of using computers. This job will offer the applicant the opportunity to explore areas of clinical research as well as performing clinical duties in a supportive environment with scope to grow both professionally and clinically. You could be a part of new emerging treatments for neurology as well as being a pivotal role in pioneering new and stimulating services for all neurology patients. This post will involve delivering an expert nursing infusion service to patients receiving a variety of infusions for their neurological conditions as well as being an integral member of the research team. You will work in a tight knit, fast paced, enthusiastic, friendly expert nurse led service, on a specialist unit, based at The Royal London Hospital in the East End of London. We welcome informal visits.
Main duties of the job
- To provide the highest standard of individualised and holistic patient care in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.
- To supervise and teach junior members of staff and learners as required and maintain own personal development with support.
- To provide high quality nursing care to patients and their families, in accordance with agreed policies.

- Knowledge of current and emerging NHS strategy, policy and care standards for Clinical drug infusion
- Is aware of how to identify and reduce risks with regards to health and wellbeing
- Understanding of own Knowledge and Skills and ability to identify learning needs and interests.
Desirable criteria
- Current knowledge of neurological conditions and research
