Band 8a

Barts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, and one of Britain’s leading healthcare providers.

The Barts Health group of NHS hospitals is entering an exciting new era on our improvement journey to becoming an outstanding organisation with a world-class clinical reputation. Having lifted ourselves out of special measures, we now have the impetus and breathing space to chart a fresh course in which we are continually striving to improve all our services for patients.

Our vision is to be a high-performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation, and providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in east London and beyond. That means being a provider of excellent patient safety, known for delivering consistently high standards of harm-free care and always caring for patients in the right place at the right time. It also means being an outstanding place to work, in which our WeCare values and behaviours are visible to all and guide us in how we work together.

Barts Health supports the Pregnancy Loss Pledge and commits to supporting their staff through the distress of miscarriage.

Job overview

An exciting, new, permanent band 8a role has become available within the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Service at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital.  We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic practitioner psychologist into a service supporting adults with Cystic Fibrosis and the systems around them.

There are strong opportunities for research and service development with the CF MDT and wider psychological services.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a candidate with experience in the field of clinical health psychology (and preferably CF) to work alongside two other practitioner psychologists (0.5 wte Band 7 and 0.5 wte Band 8a). Operationally these posts sit within the wider Barts Heart and Thorax Psychological Services and clinical supervision and line management for this 8a post will be provided from this service. Further continuing professional development is actively encouraged. The post will provide a wide range of experience and allow the candidate to further develop valuable transferable skills.

Professionally, you will join a well-established and well-regarded Cystic Fibrosis service, as well as an innovative and expanding team of psychological practitioners working across respiratory, cancer, and cardiac services on site at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. You will also join a wider professional network of over 60 psychological practitioners, working within many acute and community services across Barts Health NHS Trust.

For further details about the post, applicants are strongly encouraged to contact Vicky Kelly (Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Service Lead of Barts Heart and Thorax Psychological Services) on [email protected]
