Job overview

We are looking to recruit dynamic and enthusiastic individuals to join our friendly and diverse Financial Management team for 2 x Senior Finance Analysts.

You must have significant experience of management accounting within the NHS including budgeting, preparation of financial reports, accounts and costs. You should ideally be studying towards a CCAB qualification and educated to degree level.

In the role of the Senior Finance Analyst you will be providing all aspects of financial support to the Clinical functions. The role is high profile and involves liaising with directors and senior managers across the Trust. It will be part of the Finance Analysis team reporting into the Finance Business Partner.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assist in the provision of financial support and advice to Budget Holders and Service Leads within the finance team which supports a clinical division working with the Service Managers and Executive Directors to establish a sound basis for the planning and development of service changes. The post holder will assist the Finance Business Partners and Head of Business Partnering in ensuring that robust monitoring information is provided to enable divisions to manage their financial position and the Trust to fulfil its financial duties.

Essential criteria
  • Working towards CCAB Qualification /or Educated to masters level in accountancy or equivalent combination of degree level education, post graduate part CCAB qualification, extensive training and relevant experience
  • Evidence of continuous professional development

  • Educated to degree level

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience of management accounting within the NHS including budgeting, preparation of financial reports, preparation of financial accounts and costing.
  • Experience of Business Case option appraisal and preparing plans for financial and people aspects of service provision contributing to the medium term financial strategy.
  • Experience of setting targets and delivering change in partnership with other organisations
  • Experience of close working with non-financial professionals, including clinicians, to improve health services
  • Experience of large financial ledger systems
  • Project management experience including negotiation skills
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of NHS Community Provider finance function
  • Experience of Service Line Reporting

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Expert knowledge of management accounting and costing procedures, financial regulations and other legislation and NHS finance policies.
  • Highly developed knowledge of accountancy procedures and principles
  • Highly developed Knowledge of General Ledger/Reporting Systems
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to utilise them to communicate effectively within a co-operative multi-disciplinary and team based working environment.
  • Ability to form, build, develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with people from a wide range of personal and professional backgrounds
  • Able to summarise and communicate provide highly complex finance information to non-finance personnel
  • Able to draft, type, format, prepare and produce a wide range of high quality documentation, letters, emails, memos, statistical information, graphics, presentations and short reports.
  • Able to identify risk and assess likelihood and impact and to make and communicate informed judgments as to level of risk and benefits and offer ranked alternative options
  • Excellent data analysis skills for interpretation and comparison of highly complex data from various sources. Able to identify patterns in data and understanding linkages to consider financial trends and forecasts and to investigate and explain variances to budget holders
  • Ability to review and improve finance systems and implement financial controls where necessary
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel to Advanced Level, Word, Outlook and financial information and management system skills.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality issues regarding patients, staff and sensitive Trust matters
  • Knowledge of Service Line Reporting
