Job overview

Tower Hamlets Talking Therapies are looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated trainee High Intensity CBT Therapists to join our dynamic and innovative service.

 

Tower Hamlets Talking Therapies has been providing a stepped care Talking Therapies service since 2009 and consists of Psychologists, Relational Therapists, Counsellors, High-Intensity CBT therapists and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners offering evidence-based interventions at Steps 2 and 3.

We recognise that the HI CBT training course can be very intensive and pressured, especially with needing to balance course and site expectations. The post holder will be part of a supportive team, with access to peer support, high quality supervision and line management.

Main duties of the job

This trainee High Intensity CBT therapist position is offered in conjunction with Royal Holloway University, giving you the opportunity to earn a PG Diploma in High Intensity CBT by the conclusion of the academic year. This position entails attending lectures at Royal Holloway two days a week and providing high-intensity, one-on-one assessments and CBT interventions for adults with common mental health problems for the remaining three days. Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Successful candidates will be trained by the University, 2 days per week, to deliver evidence-based psychological therapies for patients with anxiety and depression. Trainees will be employed by Tower Hamlets Talking Therapies during training, where they will deliver treatments on the other 3 days per week.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • A recorded/registered qualification in one of the following at graduate level in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or within a psychological therapy OR Evidence using the career framework of training in mental health and experience working in a stepped care service for anxiety and depression

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience of working in mental health services
  • Ability to meet agreed/specified service targets
  • Ability to manage own caseload and time

Skills & Competencies

Essential criteria
  • Ability to evaluate and put in place the effect of training
  • Has received training (either formal of through experience) and carried out risk assessments within scope of practice
  • Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients

Training

Essential criteria
  • Able to attend a two day per week course
  • Able to complete academic components of the course

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary Care
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health
  • Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems
