Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Speech & Language Therapist, Dietitian, Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist with excellent leadership skills, sound multi-professional management experience and extensive community rehabilitation experience to undertake the role of  Deputy Head of Service in the Adult Community Rehabilitation Team (ACRT).  This role works in close partnership with the existing Deputies to manage both the physical and neuro clinical pathways in the team.  Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy leadership is currently well represented so we would particularly welcome applications from Speech & Language Therapists and Dietitians.  

ACRT provides therapy and rehabilitation for clients with neurological and physical disabilities and the team consists of AHPs, Clinical Neuropsychologists and is supported by a Consultant Neurologist, AHP Consultant in Neuro Rehab and Neuronavigators.

The post holder will work closely with the management team to deliver quality community rehabilitation services aligned with Homerton’s strategic objectives, including Neighbourhoods, productivity and digital optimisation.  

There are well-established profession and service specific teaching programmes. Professional development is supported and there is a strong commitment to QI, research and audit.

Main duties of the job

  • Senior member of the specialist interdisciplinary Adult Community Rehabilitation Team which includes Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech & language Therapy, Dietitians, Neuro-Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Consultant Allied Health Professional, Consultant Neurologist, Support workers and Administrators. The team works with clients aged 16 onwards with complex physical and neurological disability.-
  • Assist the Head of Service in the development of the service in line with local and national directives.
  • Act as an expert therapy practitioner in the field of community rehabilitation for the Trust and City & Hackney partners
  • Provide expert training, advice and education to Allied Health Professionals, GPs, Consultants and members of the voluntary sector and the Local Authority. 
  • The post holder will be working in a challenging socio-economic environment involving clients who have highly complex social problems and those from culturally diverse backgrounds.
