An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior nurse to join our Sexual Health team at Homerton Healthcare Foundation Trust. This is a fixed term contract for 9 months (with a potential for extension) to work with the Lead Nurse to strengthen and support the continuous development of the various teams within the service

We are looking for a nurse with strong clinical knowledge and who has  leadership and management experience at band 7 in Sexual Health. Due to the fixed term nature it can be offered as a secondment position. 

Main duties of the job

To deliver high quality training, education and clinical assessments, providing a highly visible and professional presence and being responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients of the Sexual Health Service.

The postholder will have direct managerial responsibility over the Nursing and Health Advising teams including the young people service, providing clinical support and supervision to the wider nursing team. This role has a significant clinical component and it is envisaged the postholder will work in practice clinically 1-2 days which can fluctuate dependent on the service requirements.

To further strengthen the relationships with others across both professional and primary care boundaries, including local agencies, social services, key stakeholders and partners. This will involve dissemination of specialist skills and knowledge to others, including working in networks to meet locally agreed sexual health strategies, Department of Health and Social Care and Public Health agendas.

  • RGN and current NMC registration
  • Educated to Masters level or equivalent
  • Post registration qualification in contraception, e.g. DFSRH
  • Recognised GUM qualification or course in STIs e.g. STIF
  • LoC IUT/ Certificate in Intra uterine techniques
  • LoC SDI/ Certificate in subdermal implant
Desirable criteria
  • Non medical precriber
  • DFSRDFSRH Faculty registered trainer Teaching and assigning training or working towards
