Job overview

 We are recruiting a full time Charge Nurse.  We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and skilled nurse with clinical experience or a particular interest in the care of Outpatients Service Users. This is a full-time  position, requiring 37.5 hours per week. Shifts are 7.5 hours each, scheduled to ensure coverage from the service's opening to closing times. You will have excellent clinical knowledge and skills and enjoy multidisciplinary team working. 

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop Outpatients Services knowledge and clinical skills.
  • Participate and support audits and quality improvement projects within the Directorate
  • Become part of a supportive and dynamic multidisciplinary team committed to delivering accessible, high quality, evidence-based care.

You need to be well organized, motivated and committed to further developing and delivering high quality holistic multidisciplinary care; and enjoy supporting the various specialties in the Outpatients setting including Dermatology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Vascular, Gastroenterology, Diabetes and Endocrinology Clinics .

Main duties of the job

  •  To support the Senior  Sister  in the provision of  professional role modelling and leadership that inspires the professional development of nursing within outpatients
  •  To provide cross site cover for Outpatients in the absence of Senior Sister.
  • To provide visible clinical leadership and authoritative presence, responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality care.
  •  Ensuring that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery.
  • To ensure effective operational management of outpatient clinics to ensure standards are monitored and maintained /improved
  • Support the senior nurse in working with the multi-professional team on patient pathway redesign to enhance the quality of the patient experience whilst reducing delays, and ensuring patient flows are managed within elective access targets
  •  Ensure local governance structures are in place and lead on delegated projects
  • Support strategies to improve the patient experience across multidisciplinary groups within outpatients and the outpatient pathways including the conduction of discovery interviews
  • To support the senior nurse and the general manager in the delivery of robust business plans for the speciality
  • To supervise the professional development and appraisal of staff through their line management structure
