Job title – Clinical Trials Pharmacist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two enthusiastic and self-motivated pharmacists to join the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team as band 7 Clinical Trials Pharmacists. 

The post holders will be members of the pharmacy clinical trials team at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation trust.  They will rotate through various sections of the service receiving training and becoming competent in key service areas.  They will work with the team to ensure the smooth running of clinical trials handled by the Royal Free Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team.

Potential candidates will have demonstrable experience in hospital pharmacy at band 6 level including in- and outpatient dispensary experience and clinical ward pharmacy experience.  Demonstrable technical services experience and previous experience of working in clinical trials is desirable but not required.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a member of the pharmacy clinical trials team at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.  They will rotate through various sections of the service including Royal Free Clinical Trials Pharmacy and  Royal Free Clinical Trials Manufacturing  and becoming competent in key service areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To maintain and support the Pharmacy Clinical Trials service in accordance with current UK Clinical Trials Regulations and all amendments, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Good Distribution Practice (GDP) guidelines and department procedures, ensuring the provision of a high-quality service to non-commercial and commercial sponsors, clinical trial units, contract research organisations (CROs), staff and patients at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust
  • Assist with managing and resolving day-to-day queries raised by the research teams, sponsors, clinical trial units, and contract research organisations (CROs)
  • Dispense and final check clinical trial prescriptions including aseptically prepared products
  • Support investigational medicinal product (IMP) manufacturing activities within the clinical trials unit on a rotational basis
  • Participate in the provision of a clinical pharmacy service on a rotational basis
