Main duties of the job
South West London Pathology is an award winning pathology partnership between four leading Hospital Trusts – St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Epsom and St Helier University Hospital Trust and Croydon Health Services NHS Trust – designed to provide an integrated, high quality pathology service for hospitals and GPs across South West London.
General Manager for Cellular Pathology
The St. George's University Hospital site serves as the Hub laboratory for Cellular Pathology covering the St Georges and Croydon sites only as well as specialist referral site. SWLP has made significant investments in new equipment (new MSC provider Leica) and continues to look at other technologies which will improve the service provision. The department prides itself in innovative working solutions; early adopters of new technologies and strongly supports development of staff. The Cellular Pathology department is undergoing and continues to to undergo major changes with complete new equipment with the award of a new MSC to Leica. Transition is in progress with a Go-Live in September. In addition, there has been significant investment in infrastructure with a new IHC lab approved; new digital solution and enhanced IT etc. The service transferred to the new LIMS solution CliniSys Enterprise version 7.24 in 2022. Sites visits prior to interviews are strongly recommended.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MSc in Biomedical Sciences (Cellular pathology)
- Registration with the HCPC
- Evidence of CPD
- Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- Post-graduate qualification in Management
- Qualification in process Improvement (lean)
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience at senior management level
- Understanding of pathology as a business and the ability to drive it.
- Significant experience in the practice of Laboratory Medicine
- Proven ability to manage change effectively
- Significant experience in Human Resource Management and HR policy implementation
- Significant experience with Quality Management Systems
- Proven experience of leadership and management
- Significant experience in problem solving
- Use of pathology computer systems
