Acute and tertiary health services are delivered from over 1,000 beds across two sites, by around 8,000 staff.
St. George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a major acute hospital that offers very specialist care for complex injuries and illnesses, including trauma, neurology, cardiac care, renal transplantation, cancer care and stroke. It has a helipad which opened in spring 2014 and the work of its emergency department can currently be seen on Channel 4’s ‘24 Hours in A&E’ programme. The hospital also provides all the usual care you would expect from a local NHS district general hospital.
We also provide services at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Roehampton. These include outpatient rapid diagnostic and treatment facilities, a minor injuries unit, limb fitting services and 70 elderly, intermediate care and rehabilitation beds.
As well as hospital services, we provide a wide variety of specialist, maternity and community services to children, adults, older people and people with learning disabilities. These services are provided from St John’s Therapy Centre, 11 health centres and clinics, schools, nursing homes and people’s own homes. The trust also manages the healthcare service at HMP Wandsworth.

The successful applicant will be a committed clinician with subspecialist interest/training in Mohs surgery and a track record of excellent clinical service delivery, service improvement, teaching, training and other qualities as identified in the person specification.
Main duties of the job
Locum Consultant Dermatologist (10 PAs)
The Department of Dermatology at St George’s Hospital is seeking a consultant dermatologist (10 PAs) with a broad knowledge base in general dermatology, skin cancer and MOHS Surgery.
We are looking for a candidate who will excel clinically and academically within a friendly and busy department. The postholder will be working alongside other consultants in general dermatology and skin cancer clinics in a supportive and dynamic environment.
The successful applicant will join a team of 11 consultants at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, including the satellite Queen Mary’s Roehampton and Nelson Hospital sites. The successful applicant will be encouraged to develop areas of interest or research within the department.
Applicants should be on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of the interview.

Education
Essential criteria
- Full registration with GMC
- MRCP or MRCPCH
- CCT Dermatology or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Postgraduate degree
- MD / PhD
Experience
Essential criteria
- Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in dermatology.
- Experience of managing patients with skin cancer
- Experience in skin surgery (diagnostic biopsies and excisions)
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
Skills
Essential criteria
- Independent on skin biopsies
- Teaching experience and an interest in developing Undergraduate teaching in particular
- Able to run clinics and services efficiently and smoothly
