West London NHS Trust  provides a full range of mental health, community  and physical healthcare services for children, adults and older people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.

We also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.

 

Trosolwg o'r swydd

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated specialist CBT therapist, Counselling/Clinical Psychologist with an interest in developing their skills and experience supporting staff across the health and social care sector. 

Alongside some direct clinical work, you will contribute to the development of the educational, training and outreach offer for the Keeping Well NWL service.

We particularly encourage applications from candidates with an interest in supporting Healthcare staff, as well as service development and innovative practice.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

To provide a therapeutic service to clients of the Keeping Well NWL service, across all sectors of care; providing specialist psychological assessment and therapy.

To assist in the development and delivery of a proactive programme of outreach and engagement with providers of health and care services within the NWL area.

 To assist in the development and delivery, in partnership with local employer organisations and teams, training programmes to maintain and support staff wellbeing.

  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients within an IAPT service
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups and presenting problems that reflect a range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.

  • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across a range of care settings. including outpatient, community, and primary care settings.
  • Experience of the application of CBT in different cultural contexts.

Qualifications

  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical or counseling psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, or post graduate training in another core mental health profession (nursing, Occupational therapy) plus a post graduate diploma or higher degree in CBT. Professional registration with the appropriate Health Professions Council (HPC)
  • To be accredited by the BABCP as a provisionally or fully accredited practitioner, or to be able to achieve provisional practitioner accreditation with the BABCP within six months of starting in post.

  • Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.
  • Fully accredited with the BABCP

Knowledge

  • Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
  • Experience at working with Cognitive Behaviour Therapy at a specialist level.
  • High-level knowledge of the theory and practice of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.
  • High-level knowledge of the theory and practice of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.
  • Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
  • Knowledge of issues relating to primary and secondary care psychological therapies services.

  • Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities etc).
  • Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
  • Knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology

Personal Qualities

  • Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance as appropriate, to support and maintain clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behaviour.
  • Able to work at least one evening session, till 8.00pm.
  • Self-motivated, able to work autonomously and independently with confidence.
  • Be aware of the limitations in own competencies and seek appropriate senior advice.
