Senior Income Accountant Fixed Term Contract band 8a
Reporting monthly acute income, timely submission of SLAM, and reconciliation of commissioner reports and information. Divisional.
Annual budget setting and divisional income reporting
Main duties of the job
- Responsible for assisting the Head of Contracts in providing expert advice on all issues relating to Income, the National Tariff and reference costs.
- Ensure National Tariff guidance is implemented accurately within the Trust and activity is priced correctly using national or local prices.
- Monitoring and reporting on income, both internally and externally. Dealing with queries from Divisions and Commissioners in relation to pricing, activity and income.
- Working with operational teams and the information department to ensure all activity data is collected.
5. Monitoring of all NHS Clinical Income (c£204m) to ensure all income is correctly invoiced and reported in the finance ledger including accruing for income yet to be billed. Responsible for ensuring invoices for clinical income are paid and, working with the Accounts Receivables team, ensure income is received promptly.
6. Assessing the impact of tariff changes and providing feedback to both financial and non-financial managers. Providing analysis, including written explanation, on actual and potential changes to income.
7. Liaising with Divisions on the financial impact of planned service changes. Ensuring that planning and costing systems are continuously improved. Responsible for the continual development and implementation of National Tariff guidance.
8. Day to day management of the Contracts, Income and SLR Accountants.

- Qualified CCAB Accountant
- Experience within an NHS finance team
- Staff management skills
- Expert financial modelling skills
- The ability to design, introduce and develop systems
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate complex data to non-finance staff
- Ability to negotiate effectively and reach an amicable agreed position
- Excellent analytical and reasoning skills
- Excellent level of proficiency in Computer packages (Microsoft Office)
- Good planning skills to ensure that workload is prioritised, and deadlines are met
Desirable criteria
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- Evidence of CPD
