Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Pharmacist to join the Cancer and Aseptic Services team at Princess Royal University Hospital, as a fixed term maternity leave cover for 12 months. This post will offer you a fantastic opportunity to experience many aspects of Cancer Services including contributing to multi-disciplinary ward rounds for both haematology and solid tumour oncology patients. You will be uniquely placed to provide excellent patient care to oncology and haematology patients, whilst managing the team and service. This position will benefit from being fully supported and trained by our friendly and dedicated team, allowing you to develop both personally and professionally. As we work closer with our local partners you will be integral in planning the future of high risk injectable medicines supplies to improve patient care, efficiency and safety. Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be a specialist practitioner in adult haematology and solid tumour oncology and be professionally and managerially responsible for the provision of pharmaceutical care to Cancer Services at PRUH. The post-holder has overall responsibility for the safe and efficient provision of cytotoxic chemotherapy at PRUH, as well as being accountable pharmacist for the section 10 aseptic unit. As a senior member of the pharmacy team, the post-holder will contribute to policy and strategy development and implementation of pharmacy services at PRUH.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
• Lead and manage the clinical pharmacy service for haematology/oncology, in accordance with departmental priorities to ensure safe, clinically effective and cost effective use of drugs.
• Ensure that the quality of the pharmacy services is benchmarked against services provided by other local Trusts by participating fully in the Peer Review process.
• Collaborate, network and liaise with other cancer services pharmacists within the Network to ensure appropriate service and practice developments are implemented in a timely fashion.
• Ensure delivery of the pharmacy clinical governance agenda in Cancer Services.
• To critically evaluate the aseptic quality systems with a view to ensuring that best practice is in operation within Aseptic Services.
• Participate in the review of the PQS by writing, maintaining and reviewing controlled documentation including SOPs, forms, change controls, risk assessments, error logs and training documents.
• To line manage junior pharmacists, rotational pharmacists and trainee pharmacists.
• To support and issue the implementation and audit of plans, guidelines, procedures, policies and service changes within the production unit.
• To work effectively as part of a team in a multi-disciplinary and pharmacy environment, and maintain rapport with medical and other colleagues.
• Ensuring safe and efficient working, and supporting staff to ensure they are fit for work and workload is distributed equally.
• To lead and implement service development projects to grow the service and always aim higher for a better quality of care.
• To promote equality, diversity and staff well-being. Ensuring all staff feel supported and able to carry out all of their duties safely and effectively.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Masters degree - MPharm
- Specialist higher qualification (Diploma) in Clinical Pharmacy
Desirable criteria
- Specialist higher degree (Masters) in Technical services
Registration
Essential criteria
- Professional registration with the GPhC
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of GMP, GCP, QA and regulations and legislation relevant to aseptic services
- Proven experience of clinical pharmacy practice
- Proven experience working in Aseptic preparation unit, including day to day management and supervision
- Experience of multi-disciplinary team working
Skills and Competencies
Essential criteria
- Experience with SACT clinical screening
- Experience with clinical ward cover, including haematology/oncology wards
- Experience in managing and supervising junior staff

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
